Details on the Mini Shed

CLASSES At The Mini Shed, each day will have at least one dance class, one improvisation workshop, and one classroom activity.

DETAILS

Controlled camper to staff ratio is a standard at The Mini Shed. This ratio will be approximately 9:1 for dorms, classes, and activities.

Campers will have evening games and events each night.

A designated camp counselor specifically for the Mini Shed attendees who has been trained and has experience with weeklong camps. Their counselor will lead them in each activity/class.

Each day will have at least one dance class, one improvisation workshop, and one classroom activity.

Dancers will study historical and current day footage of tap dancers and get insight on how to relate this information to their journey today.

SAFETY

We view each activity with safety first at The Mini Shed. Our camp counselors will have the task of ensuring the dancers get enough sleep, food, and hydration - all extremely important components for high altitude. There is also a nurse on site at the YMCA and we have located urgent care facilities nearby.

DORMS

Deer Ridge Lodge features 2 sets of bunk beds and a queen bed. There is an attached bathroom w/shower.

DINING

Meals will be in the Aspen Dining Hall served buffet style. The Y is able to accommodate many dietary restrictions. We will have a couple of meals outside of this: Breakfast in the Wild, Share Pizza Party, etc. You will receive a link to a form for dietary restrictions.

CLASSES

Tap classes will be on wood floors (is there any other way to tap dance?), taught by our famous faculty. They will also have the opportunity to take from select Woodshed mentors. We will also host classroom discussions on: tap history, jazz music, and personal development.

EVENTING ACTIVITIES

We will have Game Nights, Jams, and Footage each evening of the Mini Shed,
