APPLICATION PROCESS

WHAT SHOULD I INCLUDE IN MY VIDEO?

Your video should include an improvisational section preferably to a jazz standard You can submit choreographed work either on stage or in the studio to support your application that demonstrates your grasp of musicality.

I HAVEN’T HEARD BACK ON MY APPLICATION…

Applications are under review and can stay under review until March 1st. If you haven’t had an acceptance or decline email, the committee is still going over your application. All acceptances will go out by March 1st, 2021.

ARE THE AGE GUIDELINES A HARD REQUIREMENT?

For the most part, yes. While there are always exceptions, we strongly believe that the specific age requirements are necessary to facilitate and shape each experience for each stage of a dancers life and have created experiences that meet different needs of todays tap dancers. Therefore, each experience is not a progression of levels. All experiences require a high standard of technical ability along with a strong grasp of musicality.

WHERE WILL WOODSHED BE THIS YEAR?

We are excited to be back at the Blue Ridge Assembly in Black Mountain, North Carolina for 2021! This facility has great options for our specific needs and will accommodate us while providing a more intimate campus which includes our own building and theater for the week for our classes.

WILL WE STAY IN DORMS?

Yes! We have our own dorm building that will house only Woodshed attendees and our interns. The dorm has a large common area on the bottom floor complete with couches, tables, and a kitchenette. There will be 4 people to a dorm room and each dorm room has its own bathroom.

I HAVE SPECIAL DIETARY NEEDS…WILL THIS BE ACCOMMODATED?

We are also excited to announce that we will have private dining at the event site and we will have specific menu options that will include gluten free, nut free, and vegetarian diets. The quality of food here is by far greater than other event sites in the past!
